(Red)icence For (Red)emption

Well, it's been a couple of days now, and the results have been, shall we say... slow.

Robert and I would like to provide those of you struggling with your potential participation in the (Red)emption campaign with a valuable service. We’ve anticipated your objections, and have provided you with clear, concise responses. Please read on, mentally check off those that apply to you, and then consult our handy, clarifying answers.

Well, then its a good thing we’re only asking for $10. It’ll change lives, and you won’t miss it.

My church already supports Missionaries in Africa
Fantastic! It’s only $10.

My dog just died
You have our sympathies. He/she was a good dog, providing love and companionship, and asking nothing in return. $10 in Spot’s memory isn’t too much to ask, is it?

I’m too busy right now; I’ll do it later
No you won’t. It’ll take 2 minutes, so put down the remote control.  And it’s only $10.

10 bucks won’t do anything
You’re wrong. Dead wrong. It will do a lot, and when we combine it with $10 from everybody else you know, the possibilities are endless.

It looks complicated
It’s not, and it’s only $10.

I won’t get a tax receipt
Who cares? It’s only $10. How’s this for a deal… if this is the only thing holding you back, well, you tell us your tax bracket and we’ll send you your refund ourselves. Of course, we’ll send it in pennies… COD.

$10 Canadian? That sounds like a lot of money
It’s not. For those of you not familiar with the intricasies of the international currency markets, let us enlighten you. 10.00 CDN is roughly equivalent to the following:

8.89 USD (American Dollars)
7.04 EUR (Euros)
4.72 GBP (Great Britain Pounds)
11.72 AUD (Australian Dollars)
1,053.78 JPY (Japanese Yen)
13.31 NZD (New Zealand Dollars)
66.7965 ZAR (South African Rand)

And besides, Paypal does the conversion for you. So, whatever way you slice it, it’s only $10.

So come on folks. $10. It's not that big a deal... except that it is. Thanks.

i gave my 66.7965 ZAR and i don't even know who mike is. but i know who stephen lewis is and it's 10 bucks well spent.

...though i still would like to get a red ipod when I'm in canada in december. yes, the paradox...

I like this. Was just pitching the idea to my daughter who's big into myspace. Is there an alternative payment method to Paypal?

Thanks for the encouragement. If anyone knows of a simpler, safer way to make a micro-donation, we would love to hear about it but seriously, Paypal is so easy it's hard to believe such an alternative would exist. If anyone has a real problem with Paypal, or you're Amish, you can send us a cheque if you want but please don't subtract the postage costs from the donation!

Just to add to that:

We know Paypal is super easy... unless you have a problem. Then, you have our sympathies. Also, at least in Canada you need a credit card, and the electronic cheque function isn't available. And as Robert has said, please let us know if you're aware of aviable alternative.
