The Year That Was / The Year That Will Be II, Or...
...The Real Work Begins
Stephanie sent this over to me for the LHM blog, but I think it belongs here (Under the category The Year That Will Be) as well. Let this be our prayer as we head into a New Year:
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
to find the lost,
to heal the broken,
to feed the hungry,
to release the prisoner,
to rebuild the nations,
to bring peace among brothers,
to make music in the heart.Howard Thurman The Work of Christmas
A Grateful Heart p 74

Mike... What a great post. Thanks to Steph.
I am going to put a copy on my fridge.

Thurman is amazing. He still loomed large in the culture of my seminary even 25 years after his departure. (Not as large as MLK, but then, who would loom as large as MLK?)
