More Reading...
Wednesday I had a fantastic lunch meeting with Mark Vander Vennen, co-athour of Hope in Troubled Times, and walked out with a copy of Justice, Not Just Us, and Beyond Poverty and Affluence: Toward an Economy of Care, as well as a couple of other articles. Yesterday it was lunch with my friend and former World Vision colleague Gord King. Gord left me with Justice, Mercy & Humility: Integral Mission and the Poor, and a couple papers he's written for his D.Min program on Rene Padilla's work.
And here's how the two tie together.
I was telling Gord about my lunch with Mark, and how much Hope in Troubled Times had impacted me. He laughed and said he had been in a book store with Rene Padilla (in either Vancouver or Buenos Aires - I'm not sure which) when Rene saw Hope on the counter. He pointed to Bob Goudzwaard's name on the cover and said, "I know that guy." So Gord bought him a copy of the book.
It's a funny old world.
