I had that same thought a coupla weeks ago. But the big dogs have too much invested in rebuilding, so I doubt it would ever happen.

Absolutely, recreate it man. I've been deeply impacted by Ched Myers' writings and have used them recently in my faith community to teach a class on Sabbath Economics. I think Myers' work envisions a way to recreate things.
