I spent a few hours this afternoon reading through some of Martin Luther's stuff. Here's a taste:
It is clear, then, that a Christian has all that he needs in faith and needs no works to justify him; and if he has no need of works, he has no need of the law; and if he has no need of the law, surely he is free from the law.

So here's the thing...
Much of this resonates. Justification by faith - yes. Freedom from the law - yes. I just wish he would ease up a little on the no works thing. Faith without works is dead. I guess my real complaint with this is this:
So many Christians seem determined to take Martin Luther at his word and live a life free of good works... as if to prove the point.
