The main purpose of this post is to enter my reading list for 2006 into the archives so I can reset my typelist over on the right sidebar for 2007. These are books I finished reading in 2006, and at the end of this post I also draw up a short list of some of the reading I want to do in 2007.
You can check out the list below the fold.
2006's Reading List (in reverse order)
- Brad Jersak: Fear No Evil: Breaking Free From the Culture of Fear
Let's see. As far as repeat authors go, I've got 6 from Susan Howatch (compliments of her Church of England series), 3 from C.S. Lewis, 3 from Douglas Coupland, 2 from Zygmunt Bauman and 2 from Dallas Willard.
A year from now as I look back at 2007 I think we'll see some of those same names listed again. I've already got The Great Omission from Dallas Willard on the go, and in the "to read" pile is Wasted Lives from the brilliant sociologist Zygmunt Bauman. I think I'll also re-read The Chronicles of Narnia series from Lewis. (A year without Lewis would be like a year without... well, it just wouldn't be good.)
Also in the pile waiting to go is Blessed Are the Peacemakers: Christ's Teachings About Love, Compassion & Forgiveness from Wendell Berry, I and Thou from Martin Buber, and Cadences of Home: Preaching Among Exiles from Walter Brueggemann, among others.
Beyond that, I see Richard Rohr in the future (I haven't read anything by him yet), more Brueggemann, and some as-of-yet undetermined material on Africa.
Stay tuned!
