I know, it's been a while. I've been working hard on Linwood House stuff lately, which is great, but it leaves little time for personal blogging. (Be sure to check out the Linwood blog... there's been so much good stuff going on lately. We're on Facebook and Twitter too.)
It's no secret that I'm not a huge fan of the Christian music genre, with some exceptions. I'm a brute for punishment though, so I frequently dial in to the regional Christian radio station when I'm on the move, and listen until I can't do it anymore. Yesterday a song caught my ear. A quick search of the google , and I found this:
My Own Little World
Matthew WestIn my own little world it hardly ever rains
I’ve never gone hungry, always felt safe
I got some money in my pocket, shoes on my feet
In my own little world
Population meI try to stay awake through the Sunday morning church
I throw a twenty in the plate but I never give ’til it hurts
And I turn off the news when I don’t like what I see
It’s easy to do when it’s
Population meWhat if there’s a bigger picture
What if I’m missing out
What if there’s a greater purpose
I could be living right now
Outside my own little worldStopped at a red light, looked out my window
I saw a cardboard sign, said “Help this homeless widow”
Just above this sign was the face of a human
I thought to myself, “God, what have I been doing?”
So I rolled down the window and I looked her in the eye
How many times have I just passed her by
I gave her some money then I drove on through
And my own little world reached
Population twoWhat if there’s a bigger picture
What if I’m missing out
What if there’s a greater purpose
That I could be living right now
Outside my own little worldFather break my heart for what breaks Yours
Give me open hands and open doors
Put Your light in my eyes and let me see
That my own little world is not about meWhat if there’s a bigger picture
What if I’m missing out
What if there’s a greater purpose
That I could be living right now
I don't want to miss what matters
I want to be reaching out
Show me the greater purpose
So I can start living right now
Outside my own little world

Dude gets it. This one is going to get a lot of play around here.
